Internet Explorer crashes when accessing SharePoint

Issue:

Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, We are sorry for the Inconvenience

This happens:  if you have two versions of Office Installed on your computer (2003,2007) or you have recently Installed any components of Office 2007 and uninstalled it or when you have updated your Office applications online.

Resolution:

To resolve this go into your program files directory and delete the version of owssupp.dll you're not using

Example : C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\owssupp.dll

Launch any of your Office applications and navigate to Resources under Word Options and click on Diagnose,

Office Diagnostics will launch, next Click on  run Diagnostics, wait for the Diagnostics to finish, when finished Office would detect the missing owssupp.dll and replace it with the correct file.
